Federica Brignone won the first World Cup giant slalom after taking gold at the world championships, while Mikaela Shiffrin finished 25th in the American's first race in the discipline in nearly 12 weeks.

The well-decorated racer is coping with the mental fallout of a scary crash she suffered last November in Killington, Vermont.

The legendary American says she's suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a fall in a giant slalom race on Nov. 30. In the race, Italian Federica Brignone won gold, while USA's Paula Moltzan took bronze for her first individual world championship medal.
