JCPenney is selling off 119 stores nationwide in a nearly $1 billion deal. The all-cash sale, which amounted to $947 million, was to Boston-based private equity firm affiliated with Onyx Partners, Ltd., according to Copper Property CTL Pass Through Trust.

More than 100 JCPenney stores nationwide, including more than 20 in Texas, have been sold to a private equity firm for $947 million in cash.

The properties — the bulk of which are in Texas and California — are being sold to an affiliate of Onyx Partners for $947 million, with the deal expected to close by Sept. 8. According to property data published online, the JCPenney store in the Staten Island Mall in New Springville is part of the sale.
