An NYPD officer was shot and injured Tuesday morning during a standoff with a man who barricaded himself for hours inside his Lower East Side apartment, officials said.

A fire about 8 p.m. Monday caused an estimated $160,000 damage to a residence at 83 Pennsylvania St. near Niagara Street on Buffalo's Lower West Side, a city spokesman reported.
