Every January 1st, the Catholic Church honors Mary, Mother of God. On this day, take a moment to pray and ask for her protection for you and your family.

It is a sincere question. Mary was made all-holy by God. She is a worthy vessel of the all-powerful God. Mary was created to be the mother of God. And yet, she comes to us.

What one might not expect, however, is how these prayers affected Jesus’ mother. Mary is hardly passive in this Temple scene. Simeon has a prophetic message for her specifically.
