Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider says right-hander Max Scherzer is still dealing with soreness in his right thumb and will make a second visit to a specialist in the U.S. later this week.

While this is one step toward the three-time Cy Young Award winner returning to game action, Matheson reported that even in a perfect world it will still be multiple weeks until Scherzer is back in the rotation. This leaves the Blue Jays with a decision to make on how to continue filling Scherzer's spot.
