The company basically binned the car's stock high-output 2.0-liter biturbo-based hybrid powertrain—battery pack and all—and swapped in an older version of Mercedes-AMG's latest 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8. That means, VUK's custom-made V-8 W206 C 63 S is the only one of its kind in the entire world.

AMG has played with smaller engines in the recent past, controversially swapping the V8 out of the C63 for a four-cylinder powerplant. Downsizing is a common trend nowadays in the auto industry, but it was received with varying degrees of love from the brand's faithful as they yearned for that V8 grit.

Turbocharged four-cylinders certainly make ample power, but Mercedes is committed to sticking by bigger cylinder counts.
