Phoenix Suns' color commentator Eddie Johnson spoke to The Arizona Republic about why he believes coach Mike Budenholzer was fired Monday, April 14.

Earlier this week, the Phoenix Suns elected to fire head coach Mike Budenholzer after posting a 36-46 record. Budenholzer’s dismissal comes after receiving a guaranteed five-year deal worth $50 million.

The decision, which comes less than one year after the team hired Budenholzer on a five-year deal worth more than $50 million and less than four years since he won a title with the Milwaukee Bucks, is the latest course correction from Suns owner Mat Ishbia that comes with significant cost.
