The counties hit and the number of confirmed cases come from the state Department of Health, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and media reports. All counties in New York have declared states of emergency.

That includes places with at least 50 new cases per 100,000 people in the past week, or 90% of U.S. counties — including 49 of New York’s 62 counties now.

It's still at an early February high. More than 87% of New York counties (54 of 62) are now shaded orange -- representing a high risk of community spread -- on the CDC's map.
