Former LSU football coach Nick Saban is rumored to be interested in returning to the coaching profession after retiring in early 2024, and current LSU football coach Brian Kelly is a fan of the idea.

Greg McElroy, the former Alabama quarterback, said he heard from a source in the know that Nick Saban will be coaching again. The report was almost immediately refuted by Paul Finebaum.

Saban's decision to leave Baton Rouge after the 2005 season was a move that had a major impact on the SEC and college football as a whole. Saban left LSU to try his luck as a head coach in the NFL.

It would also cost the athletics department in Baton Rouge $42.5 million to oust Kelly without cause, so the Tigers might not be too keen on that idea.
