In Boston's 118-108 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night, guards Payton Pritchard and Derrick White made franchise history as the first two teammates to score 40 points or more in a game.

Jayson Tatum, Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis all sat against the Portland Trail Blazers, yet Boston still pulled out a 128-118 victory over one of the NBA's hottest teams. They did so thanks to the remarkable shooting display from Payton Pritchard and Derrick White.

Pritchard and White combined for 84 points, becoming the first Celtics teammates to reach the 40-point mark in the same game, and the first duo in NBA history to connect on at least nine 3-pointers.

Although he was closing in on the record, Pritchard would only attempt one 3-pointer in the fourth quarter, which also paved the way for Derrick White to reach a career-high in points. In his post-game press conference, Pritchard discussed his reasoning for not chasing the record, saying it would be disrespectful to his teammates.
