Texas Parks and Wildlife warns against spread of bird flu after disease found in black vultures
Texas Parks and Wildlife has detected Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI), or bird flu, across Texas and is urging caution to prevent spreading the disease. According to a news release, officials most recently confirmed HPAI in black vultures discovered at Landa Park in New Braunfels.
Bird flu kills 22 Texas vultures, spurring warning about virus
Texas Parks and Wildlife said the most recent infected birds came from Landa Park in New Braunfels. In total, 22 vultures died: 19 were dead when staff received the initial report and three were euthanized. Three waterfowl of an unknown species were also found dead.

Multiple black vultures at Landa Park have died from avian flu. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Division tells us the black vultures are infected with Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI). Disease experts indicate HPAI is circulating among wild birds in Texas as waterbirds and waterfowl visit their wintering grounds.
