On Friday at 3:39 p.m. an updated severe thunderstorm warning was issued by the NWS Raleigh NC in effect until 4:30 p.m. The warning is for Harnett, Johnston, Sampson and Wayne counties.

"The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property. Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire," states the NWS Newport/Morehead City NC. The warning is in effect until 4:15 p.m.

Storms will move into the metro by 8-9 p.m., and push south of the city by 10 p.m. Along the line, isolated severe storms with damaging wind and hail will be possible. A brief tornado cannot be completely ruled out with the focus of this threat north and west of Atlanta.
