The Timberwolves are now officially under the ownership of a group led by Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore after a years-long saga that finally ended with the recent sale of the team.

Finally, the Minnesota Timberwolves’ ongoing ownership transfer has concluded. Glen Taylor is out after decades in charge, Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez are in.

The $1.5 billion sale of the franchises, first agreed upon in 2021, hit a snag in early March 2024, when Taylor tried to cancel the sale, claiming the new owners hadn’t met payment deadlines.

The Timberwolves have a lease at the Target Center through 2035, although the buyout is $50 million -- roughly 1.3% of the $1.5 billion purchase price.

However, former Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor attempted to call off the deal after what he thought was a breach in terms by the buyers, but a three-judge panel ruled in favor of Rodriguez’s team.
