Mumbai's biggest shaadi begins tomorrow, July 12, and the Ambani residence, Antilia, is bedecked for the occasion. IMAGE: The Ambani home on Mumbai's Altamount Road is draped in different colours.
Mukesh Ambani, who is regarded as the richest person in Asia and his wife Nita Ambani first resided in a not-so luxurious home before relocating to the 27-storey Antilia mansion.
The Antilia is the world's second most expensive residential property, next to Buckingham Palace. It occupies an area of 4,00,000 sq. ft. and is priced at around 15,000 crores.
Antilia also supposedly has not one, but 3 helipads and 6 floors dedicated just for their cars. The house can also withstand earthquakes that measure up to 8 on the Richter scale.
Antilia is his and his family’s home, and it’s the only property he gets to call that. Then again, we’re talking about a $2 billion building here.
As I approached Antilia, the beggars who confronted me provided a stark contrast between a man who Forbes estimates to be worth $23.6 billion and those who inhabit some of the surrounding areas.
