Verstappen received a five-second time penalty for an incident at the 2025 Jeddah race but refused to speak much about his objections

Sky Sports F1 pundit Karun Chandhok has explained why Max Verstappen deserved the penalty he was given at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Verstappen was handed a five-second time penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage during a first-corner fight with McLaren’s Oscar Piastri.

Oscar Piastri took victory at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix to move into the lead of the Formula 1 drivers’ championship. The McLaren man sealed his third win of the season, going back to back after taking the chequered flag in Bahrain last week as he benefitted from an early penalty against polesitter Max Verstappen.
