An unvaccinated individual who had a confirmed case of measles was traveling through William P. Hobby Airport in Houston for four hours last week, according to the Houston Health Department. The Houston Health Department said Saturday that the individual was at Hobby Airport between 4 and 8 p.
The person traveled to Houston from Mexico while infected with measles, a virus that can be transmitted before symptoms even develop, according to the health department.
The update comes just days after Harris County confirmed its first measles case, but officials say it's not connected to any local cases in the Greater Houston area.

A second child infected with measles has died as an outbreak of the disease surges in West Texas. The 8-year-old girl died Thursday of "measles pulmonary failure" at a Lubbock hospital, as reported by The New York Times on Sunday. Another girl, 6, from the West Texas region died in February after contracting the disease.
The Houston Health Department confirmed a measles case in an unvaccinated traveler at Hobby Airport on March 30.
