Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thrusday asked all of his Cabinet secretaries to submit resignations in a “bold reset” of his administration following last week’s mid-term elections, which saw more opposition candidates win crucial Senate seats.

Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr sought the resignation of all his cabinet secretaries on Thursday, in a move seen as an attempt to reset the political agenda and assert his authority over the second half of his single six-year term.

Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was elected president in 2022 and has three years remaining of his single six-year term, which concludes in 2028. In the recently concluded election, only six of the senate candidates endorsed by Marcos secured seats, a result below expectations.
