The alleged teen gunman in a 2024 shooting at Dallas ISD's Wilmer-Hutchins High School will appear in court on Tuesday. Ja'Kerian Rhodes-Ewing, who was 17 years old at the time of the shooting on April 12, 2024, will appear at 9 a.m. in a Dallas County courtroom for a plea hearing where he will plead guilty or not guilty.

Students at Wilmer-Hutchins High School will return to campus Wednesday, just over a week after a student, according to police, opened fire and wounded four of his classmates. That was the second shooting at the school in just one year.

Tracy Haynes, 17, was booked into Dallas County Jail at 9:32 p.m. and is facing a charge of aggravated assault mass shooting. The arrest came after four students were injured in a school shooting Tuesday afternoon, about a year to the day when gunfire erupted on the same campus.
