Austin police are investigating the death of a man early Saturday morning near North Lamar Boulevard as the city's 14th homicide of the year.

Police say they found a man with signs of "obvious trauma" in the area of N. Lamar Boulevard on Saturday morning.

A two-story home appeared to have exploded and leveled to the ground as well as a neighboring house which had suffered severe damage and collapsed.

The cause of the enormous explosion at a house on Sunday, which could be heard miles away, was not immediately known. Officials described it as an “isolated incident.”

Around 11:30 a.m., emergency crews were called to a home explosion in the 10400 block of Double Spur Loop, near DK Ranch Road, the Austin Fire Department said. Crews with Austin FD, Austin police, Austin-Travis County EMS, and the Travis County Sheriff's Office responded.
