A raging wildfire in New Jersey has scorched thousands of acres, is sending large plumes of smoke into the sky, and has led to the closure of several roads.

SafeWise looked at FBI crime statistics for cities in the state to compile its annual Safest Cities report for 2025.

The next chance of rain will come this weekend as New Jersey firefighters continue to battle a growing wildfire.

The Jones Road Wildfire is burning 13,250 acres and has reached 50 percent containment as of late Wednesday, officials said.

The wildfire is still burning on Wednesday evening. It has surpassed 12,500 acres in size and is 40 percent contained.
