The UEFA Champions League round of 16, quarterfinal and semifinal draws take place on Friday as Europe's leading soccer competition takes its final form for this season. The top eight teams from the league phase led by Liverpool and Barcelona qualified automatically for the round of 16 while eight teams have emerged from the knockout round playoffs which are part of this year's new format.

The round-of-16 draw takes place on Feb. 21 at 6 a.m. ET / 11 a.m. GMT. The clubs that finished in the top eight of the league phase went directly through to the round of 16, along with the winners of the eight knockout playoff (KO-PO) round ties between clubs who finished ninth to 24th.

Bayern Munich needed stoppage time at the Allianz Arena to secure its passage into the Champions League Round of 16. Alphonso Davies scored a 94th-minute equalizer in the second leg to send Bayern through 3-2 on aggregate against Scottish champions Celtic.

Celtic were close to causing the shock of the round against Bayern Munich, but a late equaliser on the night from Alphonso Davies put paid to their ambitions of qualifying for the round of 16 for the first time since 2012-13.

Following is the possible lineup for the Champions League last 16 ahead of Friday's draw: * Paris St Germain or Benfica will face Liverpool or Barcelona. * Club Brugge or Borussia Dortmund will face Aston Villa or Lille.
