Formerly two separate cities, Dallas and Fort Worth have been joined by urban sprawl, now connected by 30 miles of suburbs (not to mention the Trinity Railway Express light rail system).

This data is essential to understanding the growth patterns in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro ... only one was in Dallas County. At this point, the slow growth of Dallas County is not surprising.

Tarrant County, which includes the Fort Worth portion of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, has been drifting toward the Democrats in recent elections, much like highly populated areas elsewhere.
