Evangeline was born on December 15, 1927 to Theodore and Louise (Hugg) Landmark in Montevideo, MN. She attended Montevideo High School, graduating in 1945.

It wends its way along 231 miles of byways in Acadia, Evangeline and St. Landry parishes, passing dance halls, rice and crawfish fields, Cajun restaurants and museums.
