A Houston man was sentenced to more than 60 years in federal prison for a string of armed robberies at several local McDonald's, the Southern District of Texas U.S. Attorney's Office announced Thursday.

A federal judge ordered Caleb Pickens, 25, to serve 722 months in prison for a series of 2024 robberies at Houston restaurants and convenience stores.

The sentence came after the court noted the man's "abhorrent behavior, his lack of remorse, the court’s need to protect the public from him and his propensity for violence, as well as his violence towards officers while performing their duties,
