(CBS DETROIT) — A Genesee County Sheriff's deputy is facing charges after mistakenly leaving his gun in a lunch box in a high school parking lot while attending a basketball game, police said.

GENESEE CO., Mich. (WNEM) – The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office spoke about preparations within its emergency management department as snow starts to come down across the county.

Lapeer police discovered the handgun was registered to Becher and contacted the Genesee County Sheriff's Office. It's unclear whether the gun was Becher's service weapon or a personal gun.
