The adoption event begins at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 6, and lasts until 4 p.m. at the Pikes Peak Harley-Davidson, on 5867 N. Nevada Ave in Colorado Springs.

Brooks, who bought the Pikes Peak and Colorado Springs Harley-Davidson dealership from his parents, said his family is into two-wheels for the long haul. "I hope to turn it over to my kids," he said.

Barber, 62, former head road captain of the Pikes Peak Harley Owners Group No. 405, served as inspiration to bikers on the lot, who shared his lifestyle: riding in gangs, serving the community.
