Despite entire news cycles devoted to how badly the San Francisco 49ers wanted to get a contract extension done quickly for quarterback Brock Purdy, there's been essentially no news about a new deal for weeks.

“The San Francisco 49ers and Brock Purdy are inching closer to a long-term extension, according to sources close to the situation. The contract is expected to include an average annual value that ranks in the top 10 in the NFL (and at Purdy’s position),” Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported.

They should call the 49ers and offer them the ninth pick in the draft in exchange for Purdy. And then the Saints should pay him more than $50 million per season to be the heir apparent to Drew Brees.
