With the heat index in the triple digits, crews at Myrtle Wave are expecting a busy weekend with people trying to beat the heat.

The rain will become more isolated next week, but then the heat really kicks into high gear. We are on alert for a major heat wave that could include heat index values as high as 110°!

While not likely as hot as yesterday, it’s still hot enough for an advisory.

Once this passes, our heat wave settles with highs in the mid-90s and feels like the lower 100s. Residual affects of our historic rain create First Warns for Sunday through Thursday of next week.

We remain on alert for scattered storms with heavy rain through this evening, but we also have new First Alert Weather Days for a heat wave next week.

With temperatures nearing triple digits this week, Oregonians are flocking to waterways across the state to stay cool.
