A Samsung phone comes with two apps that can send text messages: Samsung Messages and Google Messages. It's strange to see two very similarly named apps that do essentially the same thing.

While Samsung Messages is no longer available on the Google Play Store, Samsung indicates that existing users can continue using the app, and it remains available for download on the Galaxy Store.

Their existing Samsung Messages app, after all, is perfectly capable of sending and receiving text messages, and it happens to already be pinned to the dock at the bottom of their home screen.
