PICKENS COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The total cost to contain the Table Rock Complex Fire is expected to exceed $1 million, according to an official with the South Carolina Forestry Commission.

The blaze didn't spread since Wednesday afternoon. The Table Rock Fire burned through dry brush and grass in an area 8 miles east of Montague, belching smoke plumes visible to drivers from I-5.

After the Table Rock Complex fires consumed more than 15,000 acres in Pickens and Greenville counties, the South Carolina Forestry Commission announced the blazes have been fully contained.

The Table Rock wildfire initially started March 21, after four teens allegedly were hiking on a trail and did not put out their cigarettes. In total, the fire burned 13,845 acres.

Though the March 2025 forest fire jumped the Table Rock Reservoir, which usually serves as a fire break, much of the damage isn't visible from above as leaves begin to appear on surviving trees.

Greenville Water System video shows how close the Table Rock Fire is to its reservoir on March 25. So far, there has been no reason to stop taking water from Table Rock, the water system said.

Table Rock State Park will partially reopen on Monday, April 7th. The Table Rock Complex fire burned over 15,923 acres, making it the largest mountain wildfire in South Carolina history.
