The fact that Apple is planning to partially move iPhone production to India isn't a secret. But now, the company seems to have accelerated these plans, as it reportedly plans to assemble all of the U.S.-sold iPhones in India by the end of 2026.

The plans are the latest sign of Apple and its suppliers accelerating a pivot away from China, a process that began when harsh Covid lockdowns hurt production at its largest plant.

The manufacturing move is aimed at addressing massive US tariffs against China that could spur higher prices on the company's biggest-selling product.
