The Saint Louis Zoo announced the passing of its 19-year-old African lion, Cabara, Wednesday afternoon. According to the zoo, Cabara had to be humanely euthanized Tuesday after suffering from an advanced liver disease.

An African lion was humanely euthanized at the Saint Louis Zoo on Tuesday. According to the zoo, Cabara was born in 2005 at the Basel Zoo in Switzerland and moved to the Saint Louis Zoo at 18 months old.
