Tejano and conjunto music legend Flaco Jiménez has died at age 86. The six-time Grammy winner was recognized as a pioneer in the Tejano music genre and was exalted for his virtuoso accordion skills.

Over the course of his seven-decade career, Jiménez received numerous awards and honors, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Grammys.

Flaco Jiménez learned to play the accordion at a very young age. He passed away on Thursday at his home surrounded by family.
