Gov. Maura Healey has announced a series of measures to enhance safety at assisted living facilities across the state after a deadly fire tore through the Gabriel House last week.

Marc Ribeiro, 34, was sentenced to serve a State Prison sentence of 18 to 20 years, followed by five years of probation.

Brenda Cropper, 66, had been hospitalized in critical condition since Sunday’s fire at the Gabriel House on Oliver Street.

A second body was found below Dillon Falls on July 21, marking the second confirmed death in the accident on the Deschutes River outside of Bend.
