An appellate court has thrown out the nearly $500 million civil fraud penalty against former President Donald Trump in the high-profile case brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James.

Five New York judges couldn't agree on many issues raised in Trump's appeal, but a majority said the monetary penalty was "excessive."
