World No. 1 Nelly Korda, who won last year's Chevron, opened with a shocking 7-under 77. Lydia Ko shot 1-over 73 with birdies on two of the last three holes. Ko came into the week battling injury after she woke up Sunday morning with neck spasms.

It’s the first major championship of the year for the LPGA, with the tour heading to The Woodlands, Texas for the Chevron Championship. The stacked field at the Club at Carlton Woods is playing for an $8 million purse with the winner taking home $1.
