Canadian wildfire smoke returns, bringing haze to Michigan. As of July 25, advisories are in effect for the U.P. and northern Lower Peninsula.

Additional plumes of smoke from Canada's active wildfires prompt officials to issue a statewide air quality alert on July 14.

At 12:40 p.m. Thursday, the National Weather Service issued the alert for Midland, Bay, Saginaw, Huron, Tuscola and Sanilac counties, warning that fine particulates in the air are expected to spike into the “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups” range through 12:45 p.m. Friday.
