Until the recent publication of his memoir Heartbreaker, Mike Campbell, who is best known as the founding lead guitarist of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, didn’t set out to write a book.
As a guitarist with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Mike Campbell co-wrote many of the band’s breakthrough songs.
“Yes, Tom [Petty] was not a perfect person. Neither am I. Neither are you, you know,” guitarist Mike Campbell says, a bit testily, during a recent phone interview about his new memoir Heartbreaker.
