A powerful storm system sweeping across the Llano Estacado on Thursday spun up 21 tornadoes along a 90-mile stretch from New Mexico to Lubbock.

Storms will continue to develop in eastern New Mexico through late tonight, where they will likely turn strong to severe. Storm chances return again Tuesday afternoon. It’s a very active day

Except in this case, investigators are meteorologists with the National Weather Service, and their sleuthing focuses on one of nature’s most dramatic phenomena: the tornado.
