ANSONIA, Conn. (WFSB) - Part of Route 8 is closed in Ansonia due to a crash involving a pedestrian. According to the CT Department of Transportation, Route 8 Southbound is closed between Exits 15 and 13. The crash occurred at around 8:55 p.m.

Serious injuries were reported after a pedestrian was struck on Route 8 south in Ansonia Friday evening, police said.  Connecticut State Police say they responded to the area of Exit 15 around 8:53 p.

Route 8 southbound is closed on Friday night due to a pedestrian vs. vehicle crash, according to the Department of Transportation (DOT). The highway is closed between exits 15 and 13. State police said that it was a multi-car accident involving a pedestrian strike and that serious injuries have been reported

The crash occurred on Route 8 southbound near Exit 15 around 8:53 p.m. Friday. Route 8 southbound is currently closed for investigation.

Two people were injured and a wrong way driver was cited following a head on crash along Route 8 Monday night near exit 44. State police say a 56-year-old Torrington man driving north in the southbound lane at 7:13 p.
