DALLAS — Paige Bueckers has done her best to live in the present during a short period in which she went from winning a national championship with UConn earlier this month to being the No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA draft and now donning a Stetson cowboy hat on a podium in Dallas City Hall.

After the lottery, the expansion Golden State Valkyries selected Lithuanian guard Justė Jocytė with their first draft pick in franchise history at No. 5. Other notable selections include Aneesah Morrow to the Connecticut Sun at No. 7 and Hailey Van Lith to the Chicago Sky at No. 11.

No. 1 WNBA draft pick Paige Bueckers was officially introduced by the Dallas Wings on Wednesday. Bueckers, along with fellow Wings rookies, Aziaha James, Madison Scott, JJ Quinerly and Baylor alum Aaronette Vonleh made their first appearance in Dallas with Mayor Eric Johnson and City Manager Kimberly Tolbert.
