Modern EVSEs can have the charging rate dialed down so even if you had a 60amp circuit, you could charge at 40 amps if your current electrical service doesn’t have enough spare capacity.

Jun 25, 2020 · I am thinking about getting this 6/3 wire from Romex at HomeDepot. This would be the wire from a 60amp breaker to the Gen 3 wall charger. Has anyone installed with this wire for their Tesla and was it a good experience?

Dec 2, 2022 · I leave the J1772-to-Tesla adapter permanently attached. In this configuration, it works just like a Tesla connector except that with Tesla's products, you can push the button to open the charge port door, which doesn't work with a J1772 connector, even with the adapter. Tapping the charge port door works fine instead.

Jul 23, 2018 · My charger will mount literally a foot under my breaker panel. I will have less that 5 feet of romex to run. I have a 150 amp load center, and I ran a whole house calculator that shows my load, even with the EV charger will run around 91 amps.
