What Is The Wildfire Project? We’re here for organizations as they emerge, shift and mature. Groups are the fundamental building block of movements. We work with organizations at the leading edge of a range of movement sectors. Our workshops for groups include single-day workshops to multi-day retreats and convenings.

Healthy groups form the core of successful movements. We help grassroots groups transform their culture, build power, practice freedom, face challenging dynamics, and win. We’re a team of skilled facilitators who come out of a range of social movements.

Project Wildfire's mission is to prevent deaths, injuries, property loss, and environmental damage resulting from wildfires in Deschutes County. Developing long-term wildfire prevention and education strategies designed to reach an ever-changing community.

Wildfire builds on this legacy with tools that we believe are holistic, layered, compassionate, and support agency and liberation in the face of complexity. We help groups build the skills to: Historically ground their work – Draw lessons from movements and traditions of resistance that have come before us.

Project Wildfire is the only group across the nation formed by County Ordinance to specifically address the risks of wildland fire in a community. Project Wildfire is governed by a diverse volunteer Steering Committee of up to 27 members with specified representation.

Project Wildfire was a nationwide, multi-agency investigation of various transnational criminal gangs in 2015 that resulted in the arrests of 976 individuals, representing 239 different organizations, in 282 cities in the United States mainland and Puerto Rico.

The Wildfire Project (Wildfire) trains, supports, and links grassroots groups in order to lay the foundation for a network that helps grow a broad and powerful movement for social, political, economic, and ecological justice.

The Wildfire Project uses a holistic process of one-on-ones, group study, weekend seminars, community events, and mentored organizing projects to develop a strong group dynamic and collective infrastructure, deepen the politics and strengthen the skills of the group, and carry out and improve active campaigns for the long-term.
