Jun 17, 2024 · 2016-2018 was a tough time for Volvo reliability as they switched to an all-new archetecture, and years around those suffer accordingly. According to my local Volvo specialist, newer vehicles ironed those problems out, and older ones just didn't use the common engine.

Volvo just builds a safe car, and because of that, its cars typically score at the top of the crash test lists. Just picked up my 2024 XC60 B5 plus in November and I am loving it. Quiet, plenty powerful, and the interior materials and design are esthetically pleasing.

Most of those issues have been fixed in the latest couple upgrades. There are still issues, but Volvo has been extremely helpful with these issues. If customers are willing I have a bunch that report glitches directly to Volvo though the car (this has to be enabled). They are really trying hard to get all of the bugs worked out.

Jun 15, 2022 · The 2012 S60 has the same problem. It's not just the 2013 up. I've had major oil consumption issues but I do my own maintenance and I don't take it to a dealer. I don't feel like being reamed by a dealer and have to driver 50+ miles just to have a Volvo dealer do maintenance. Volvo probably won't help in my case.

Dec 22, 2022 · i drop off my xc90 at late afternoon, took a rental car, and 2nd day in the morning, they called me back to pick it up. from the volvo app history, i saw my car only stayed inside their workshop for less 30m. and they drove 2 miles to test and make sure everything is ok. i guess its common enough so they dont need to do troubleshooting at all.

Jun 28, 2022 · My other cars also had approach lighting so once the key was sensed it turned on the puddle lights and interior lights. The Volvo I have to find the key fob and unlock it then my puddle and door handle lights come on. Both of these quirky lighting features will take a while to get used to… but I kind of like the quirkiness of it.

Apr 9, 2023 · Unfortunately, there aren't many other luxury hybrids to compare to, but still, Volvo is so far behind these mainstream brands. It feels like Volvo's hybrid engine is barely as efficient as the above non-hybrid versions. In addition, the Volvo requires premium fuel. Overall, doesn't lead to much in terms of cost savings.

As for a fun cheap project get a volvo 740/940 turbo. 760/780/240 are also good options if they have the turbo engine. 1990+ is the better years for mods, 1992.5+ is the best.
